Not only did Nintendo's Wii sell well in November; its signature sword-fighting game, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, also struck a blow for the company. Nintendo's total sales for hardware, software and accessories were up 34% from the same month last year, and an impressive 87% of the customers who bought the Wii also bought Twilight Princess.
No such good news for satellite radio. Sirius and XM both experienced weaker November sales than expected, and both are slashing their subscriber goals, Sirius's to about 6 million and XM's to a bit less than 8 million.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a few different private equity firms, including Blackstone and Texas Pacific, might bid $8 billion for the wireless assets of Hutchinson Telecommunications International. A deal would be part of a trend toward American private equity investment in the Asian wireless industry.
